The Parish celebrates the 90th Birthday of Her Majesty The Queen

Woolbeding with Redford Parish Council arranged a hog roast on the village green to celebrate the 90th birthday of Her Majesty The Queen.

A donation of £250 was received from Chichester District Council, which was put towards the cost of the hog, provided by Michael Courtney of Midhurst. Hall & Woodhouse brewery generously donated 48 bottles of beer from their Community Chest. A team of 15 residents made salads and chocolate brownies and delivered them on the day, together with red, white and blue flowers!

As the weather forecast looked uncertain, the council arranged for a small marquee to be erected the day before. This was both erected and donated by The National Trust. In the end we were able to eat both inside and outside the tent as the weather stayed dry. The green was decorated by a team of Union Jack enthusiasts during the morning, with balloons being inflated by younger members of the community.

The lunch was supported by over 80 people, both young and old, new and long-standing residents.

Many residents have said how much they enjoyed taking part in a community event and the council was pleased to have encouraged community cohesion.
